The Arlington High School boys and girls combined for 117.5 team points Friday during the season-opening track and field meet at Concordia University.
The Eagle boys won the Bulldog Challenge's Forest Division with 66 points in Seward, while the girls fell 1.5 behind Osceola for second. Coach Tyler Spitser's lineups combined for six indoor event wins total.
The members of AHS' 3,200-meter relay team were the most productive. Dallin Franzluebbers, Kevin Flesner, Luke Hammang and Nolan May all medaled multiple times Friday after setting the boys' meet record together. The quartet won the 2-mile relay in 8:43.18.
From there, Franzluebbers won the 800 run in 2:14.35, while Hammang — a Concordia recruit — was third in 2:16.82.
May won the 1,600-meter race in 4:51.17, too. Second behind him was Flesner, who finished in 5:04.42 ahead of fifth-place teammate John Morrison.
The Eagles' Kaden Foust, Keelianne Green — another Concordia recruit — and Taylor Arp won individual events, too.
Foust cleared 20 feet, 5.25 inches in the long jump, while Green won the girls' 800 in 2:35.46. Arp, meanwhile, edged second-place teammate Cadie Robinson with a 36-2 attempt in the shot put.
Kyle Quinn (third in boys' shot put), Hailey O'Daniel (second in the 1,600) and Emme Timm (fifth in high jump) scored team points for Spitser's team in the opener, too. Overall, Arlington logged 18 top-eight finishes.
