A shorthanded Arlington boys wrestling lineup finished tied for 12th out of 14 teams Saturday during the Dale Bonge Invitational.
The Eagles scored just 47 points, tying Wayne and besting Bayard by 8.5 points. David City Aquinas, meanwhile, won the Albion Boone Central tournament with 160 points.
AHS' Tate Johannes and Stokely Lewis were their team's lone varsity medalists. Johannes earned second at 190 pounds, dropping his finals match to Brock Jeannoutot of Crofton/Bloomfield by fall. Prior to the first-place bout, however, the Eagle beat Pierce's Kyle Kuehler by 2-0 decision and Columbus Scotus' Henry Ramaekers by 4-1 decision.
Lewis, meanwhile, earned third at 175 pounds with a 4-1 record. He earned three pins and bested Pierce's Jackson Fischer during the medal-round match by 9-8 decision.
Zane Gerrish, meanwhile, was the only other Arlington wrestler to pick up match wins in Albion. The heavyweight earned a fall against Lamberto Campuzano of Sctous and claimed a 4-2 decision against Elkhorn Valley's Nathan Gilman before he was eliminated from medal contention.
In junior varsity competition, however, the Eagles' Tucker Jorgensen went 3-0 at 175 pounds. The wrestler earned two pins and an 18-3 technical fall that took 4:20 to accomplish.
Coach Doug Hart's team next competes 5 p.m. Friday at Ashland-Greenwood.
Eagles split road duals
Arlington wrestled two duals Thursday in Pender, too.
Coach Hart's Eagles beat Wisner-Pilger 54-23, but lost to the Pendragons, 35-33. Altogether, they went 8-7 in contested matches.
Against the Gators, AHS finished 3-2 across five weight classes. It lost at 165 and 175 pounds, but Johannes (190 pounds), Cameron Hancock (132) and Brayden Nath (157) earned pins. Johannes' took just 32 seconds.
Pender faired better against the Eagles, splitting 10 contested matches. Lewis, Johannes, Jake Flesner, Braxton Soll and Hancock earned AHS' victories.
Johannes won by 21-5 tech fall and Hancock secured an 11-0 major decision, but the others all earned pins. Soll's was the quickest in 51 seconds.
