3 county golfers claim top-10 finishes at NCC tourney

Three Washington County golfers earned top-eight finishes Friday during the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament at River Wilds Golf Club.
Eddie Rosenthal of Arlington led the Eagles to a third-place team result with his individual second-place showing.
Fort Calhoun, the tourney host, was sixth overall with Owen Newbold placing seventh just ahead of AHS' Josh Hamre in eighth.
Yutan claimed the team title with 330 strokes, though. The Chieftains' Jake Richmond took just 70 swings over 18 holes to finish as the conference champion.
Coach Scott Parson's Arlington squad carded 361 strokes overall. Rosenthal finished with 78, sinking three birdies during his runner-up performance. He shot 1-under on holes No. 3, No. 13 and No. 18.
Rosenthal's teammate, Hamre, shot an 88 for eighth. He shot par on six holes, including four on the front nine.
The Eagles' Frankie Rosenbalm was 13th, too, finishing with 91 swings. Jacob Meehan added a 104 and Stokely Lewis carded 120 strokes.
Newbold, meanwhile, led Fort Calhoun's NCC effort of 383 strokes with an 86. He sunk a birdie putt on the par-4 No. 2 and picked up a second on the par-3 No. 14.
Landon Miller added 97 swings over 18 holes for coach Dustin Humphrey's team, finishing 25th overall. After 52 strokes on his first nine holes, he shot par four times over the next nine.
FCHS' Dylan Boldt and Owen Miller both took 100 swings, too, while Tyler Eastman shot a 110.
The Pioneers next play Thursday Northridge Country Club in Tekamah. The Tekamah-Herman Invitational starts at 9 a.m.
Arlington, meanwhile, was scheduled to play a quadrangular at Fremont Golf Club on Monday before the aforementioned Tekamah-Herman Tigers' tournament on Thursday.
