I don’t mean to go with one sport a week for the three Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week.
It just feels like that’s how it’s working out a lot.
This week’s honorees are Washington County tracksters Michael Maxon, Hayley Arp and Hayden Daggett.
Michael Maxon, Fort Calhoun track and field: The Pioneer did pretty well for himself last week in Valley, securing three event wins during the Douglas County West Invite. He won the 100-meter dash in 11.03 seconds, the 200 in 22.44 and the 400 relay with Alex Schuler, Clay Bohnenkamp and Kaiden Rodriguez. He was second in the long jump, too. Special mention goes to Kaylee Taylor, who also won three events in Valley, as well as Kenny Wellwood of the FCHS baseball team, who had a walk-off hit against DC West.
Hayley Arp, Arlington track and field: The Eagle went 2-for-2 in Valley, too. The standout thrower won the DC West Invite’s discus event with a 124-foot, 4-inch effort, and the shot put with a 37-4.25 attempt. Special mention goes to baseball players Tim Halley and Wes Monke. Halley hit a homer and had four RBIs against Omaha Buena Vista, while Monke struck out 12 Bison.
Hayden Daggett, Blair track and field: The Bear is off to a great start this track and field season, winning two more sprints last week at Lincoln Northwest. He won the 200-meter dash in 22.43 seconds and the 400 in 50.85 during the Falcon Invite. The junior also helped the 1,600 relay team to a second-place finish and took third in the high jump. Special mention goes to Jade Wickwire, a two-event winner in Lincoln, as well as Hailey Roewert, who cleared 5 feet, 4 inches in the high jump. Let’s show some appreciation for Brynn Ray, too, who had three goals for the BHS soccer team against Gretna.
