We made it.
After about a month of off time, it’s time again for the first Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week feature of the winter season. To make sure each winter sport is represented to get us started, I’ve selected hooper Trent Koger, swimmer Jacob Hanson and grappler Beckah Gossman

Trent Koger, Arlington basketball: The senior Eagle is off to a strong start this season, averaging 22.5 points across two games. He scored 17 during AHS’ overtime victory, notching the first bucket of extra time, while adding 28 points Saturday at Columbus Lakeview. Special mention goes to Arlington wrestlers Kelise Krivohlavek and Addyson Beam, who won their weight classes Friday at Lakeview.

Jacob Hanson, Fremont swimming: The Blair student-athlete opened his season with two FHS dual wins and four event victories. He was apart of the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay wins at Lincoln Standing Bear, but also won the individual 100 freestyle in 50.41 seconds as well as the 100 backstroke in 1:02.77. Special mention goes to his fellow four-event winning swimmers — Jane Busboom, Ryleigh Schroeder and Kennedy Zehner — and four wrestlers who earned unbeaten tourney records this weekend — Tannon Bellamy, Hudson Loges, Blaise Baughman and Bennington bracket champ Made James. What the heck, I’ll shoutout freshman Kalan Steinbeck, too, for scoring 17 points in his Blair boys basketball debut.

Beckah Gossman, Fort Calhoun wrestling: The ninth-grader made an immediate impact Thursday and Saturday, winning four-straight matches. The 155-pounder was 3-0 during the Bennington Invite, securing a 15-second pin along the way with a 17-0 technical fall victory in the final. Special mention goes to Merritt Olberding, who also won his bracket, as well as Ansley Elofson, who scored 25 points in the girls basketball team’s overtime win Saturday.

As always, thanks for reading. There’s certainly more to come. I promise.
