After a few weeks away, the Nannen & Harte Physical Therapy Athlete of the Week feature is back for spring.
Thanks to poor weather, all three Washington County standouts competed in the same place with an all important thing overhead — a roof.
Track and field athletes Dallin Franzluebbers of Arlington, Fort Calhoun’s Angel Nelson and Nolan Slominski of Blair competed and excelled in Bulldog Challenge events at Concordia University in Seward.

Dallin Franzluebbers, Arlington track and field: The Eagle 800-meter runner helped his squad to a Forest Division meet record in the 3,200 relay — 8:43.18. He also scored important team points individually, winning the 800 to push his AHS team to first in the Bulldog Challenge.

Angel Nelson, Fort Calhoun track and field: The Fort Calhoun senior started her season strong, finishing third in the long jump at Concordia. She covered 15 feet, 6.25 inches for the Pioneers' top finish.

Nolan Slominski, Blair track and field: The new Dakota State recruit was apart of two meet records during his Bears’ team victory in the Sandhill Division last Thursday. His 3,200 Blair relay squad was first in 8:42.71, while he won the individual 800 in 2:00.75.

These three athletes impressed during the opening days of the spring season, but I hope they’ll have some more competition for these honors next week. I’d be a fan of less postponements and more action.
