Two Washington County sheriff's deputies and an Omaha police officer were involved in an officer-involved shooting Monday in Omaha, according to news releases from Omaha police and the sheriff's office.

The officer and one of the deputies, whom Sheriff Mike Robinson identified as a detective, are members of the Metro Fugitive Task Force Unit.

At approximately 4:02 p.m., Omaha police assisted Washington County deputies in locating Brittany Eberhardt, 26, who was wanted by the task force for felony theft and narcotics warrants in Washington County.

The two deputies and an OPD officer observed Eberhardt in the passenger seat of a white GMC truck near 11th and Locust streets. Eberhardt was with a man, later identified as Tabor McAndrews, 28. McAndrews was driving the truck.

As all three law enforcement officers approached the truck, McAndrews put the truck in gear and drove rapidly around the officers. As the truck passed the officers at a high rate of speed, one of the deputies discharged his firearm toward the truck's tires, according to a release from OPD.

The truck continued to flee southbound along 11th Street while officers got back in their vehicles to follow. The truck sustained tire damage and became disabled near 11th and Izard streets, where both suspects fled on foot.

Eberhardt was apprehended after a short foot chase and McAndrews was later found hiding in a flatbed truck near 13th and Grace streets. The GMC truck the suspects fled in had been reported stolen out of Lancaster County.

No one was injured in the incident.

None of the officers involved wore body cameras and neither police vehicle was equipped with a video recorder, according to the OPD news release. A business security camera did record the incident as it unfolded near 11th and Locust streets.

OPD's Officer Involved Investigations Team and the Nebraska State Patrol are investigating. Five spent 9mm casings were located on the ground near where the deputy discharged their weapon.

The deputy has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal review, which is standard protocol, Robinson said.

No names will be released pending the completion of an internal review, Robinson said.

In addition to her felony warrants, Eberhardt also had a misdemeanor traffic warrant out of Douglas County and she was charged with possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine contained in a syringe found in her purse.

McAndrews had a felony warrant from Arkansas and he was booked for a misdemeanor traffic warrant out of Sarpy County, a felony narcotics warrant from Douglas County and additional charges including possession of stolen property and flight to avoid arrest.

Eberhardt, along with Zachary Eberhardt, was wanted in Washington County for stealing a car in February.

According to an arrest affidavit, a man reported his car, a Chevrolet Impala, had been stolen from his home early morning Feb. 21.

The victim had a video recording that showed two people inside a Kia Soul stuck in the snow in his front yard. They had stolen the victim's car following their attempt to get out of the snow.

The Kia was also found to be reported stolen out of Omaha a few days prior, with a value of around $5,000.

The victim's vehicle also had a wallet which contained his driver's license, credit cards, cash and other items valued at $910. The vehicle's value was $14,000.

Inside the vehicle stuck inside the snow was a cell phone, which was taken into evidence. Washington County deputies found a call had been made using the phone to a number registered to Brittany Eberhardt.

On Feb. 25, the victim reported a credit card had been used at two different casinos in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Feb. 21. Two $318 transactions were made at one casino. Before a second worth $540 and $326 could be made at another, the victim cancelled his cards.
